Candleholders are available in a mind-boggling array of sizes and styles. From the smallest votive cups to the most elaborate wall sconce, there is something for just about every occasion and personal preference. Furthermore, they can be purchased from thousands of retailers throughout the country, both locally and through online vendors.
Glass tealight candleholders are among the most popular designs sold today. Tealights are very small candles, rarely larger than an inch and a half in diameter, and usually only about a half inch thick, at most. The holders for these are normally small glass cups, into which the candle is placed. In some cases, the cup is made from clear glass, allowing the natural glow of the candle to emanate, but they can also be made from colored glass as well.
Of course, candleholders do not have to be originally designed as a candleholder. Large, flat-bottom candles are sometimes placed on small glass or ceramic plates, and in many cases, shot glasses are used for smaller candles. A classic alternative to the common holder is the wine bottle, which can take on a unique character as it is slowly covered with melted wax dripping from the candle.
